Blackjack Switch
Choice has always been something very powerful in our society. We have seen people on the political front nearly beat each other senseless over the issue of choice. Let's not even discuss the bitter and entrenched ideas of choosing Coke or Pepsi, Burger King or McDonalds, and the decade long war that raged over Less Filling/Tastes Great. At the blackjack table, your choice usually ranges from hit, stand, or putting your head in a plastic bag until you are mercifully unconscious. The game of Blackjack Switch though, offers a level of choice the blackjack players have rarely dared to dream about.
When playing Blackjack Switch, a gambler plays two hands at once. On each of these hands they put identical bets. As powerful function of the game in the player's favor, they may switch the second cards around in an effort to make the best hand that is humanly possible.
This level of choice suddenly becomes a very powerful weapon for the blackjack player. Casinos don't give away an edge though, so in response to this ability to switch your cards around, dealers are allowed to "push" players' hands if the total of the dealer's cards is 22. Even with a 22 a player's blackjack will win the hand, but it will only pay even money.
This game is starting to show up in more and more places, and makes a nice change from standard blackjack. |
