Also known as “The Big Six Wheel”, The Wheel Of Fortune is six feet in width and stands upright. There are fifty-four slots that the wheel can potentially stop on. There are six symbols that occupy the various slots. These symbols are usually inlaid bills of various denominations, such as $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, and a Joker card. There is also a table with each of these symbols on it, along with a dealer. The object of the game is to guess the symbol that will come up on the next spin, and bet accordingly.
To bet, the player places chips on the symbol they have chosen on the table in front of the dealer. After all the bets are in, the dealer spins the wheel and whatever symbol it lands on is the winner. There are twenty-four (24) slots with the $1 symbol, fifteen (15) with the $2, seven (7) with the $5, four (4) with the $10, and two (2) each for the $20 and the Joker. Players are allowed as many bets as they like per spin.
The Payoffs are as follows:
$1 1:1
$2 2:1
$5 5:1
$10 10:1
$20 20:1
Joker 40:1
Despite its outwardly simple appearance and the fact it is easy to learn, the game is impossible to beat. Depending on payoff schedules, the House Percentage varies from 10% to 20% or more. Serious gamblers view Wheel Of Fortune as a game designed to hook rubes, and not a table game of true merit. Many casinos do not even include it on their game floors. A variant of this game can often be found in the midways stalls of America’s carnival circuit.
